## Answer
The terms below are the ones that cause confusion in Hong Kong vehicle approval correspondence, usually
because a familiar word means something narrower here than elsewhere.

## Terms
- **Type approval** — approval of a vehicle *type* by the Transport Department. Distinct from approval of
radio equipment by OFCA, which uses the same words for a different regime.
- **Approval report** — the document issued for a type and carried by each vehicle registered against it.
- **Registered Manufacturer (RM)** — the entity registered with the Transport Department to hold type
approvals. May be the manufacturer or its authorised local agent.
- **TA001M1 / TA001N / TA001M23 / TA001L** — the Transport Department information documents for private
cars, goods vehicles, buses and light buses, and two- or three-wheeled vehicles respectively.
- **STA / STA000** — the Transport Department application forms used in manufacturer registration.
- **Information document** — the class-specific form in which the vehicle's technical particulars are
  declared for approval.
- **EV factsheet** — the environmental/specification document accompanying an electric vehicle approval;
the EPD publishes a list of models type approved by the Transport Department.
- **COC (certificate of conformity)** — a manufacturer's declaration that a vehicle conforms to an
approved type. Useful evidence; not a substitute for the approval itself.
- **WVTA** — European whole-vehicle type approval, evidence for the vehicle as a whole.
- **E-mark** — the marking that indicates conformity to a UNECE regulation. Its presence matters because
some Hong Kong items are framed in those terms.
- **AVAS** — acoustic vehicle alerting system, required for quiet vehicles, with its own notification.
- **JRS** — journey recording system, a taxi-specific item with its own approval route.
- **N1** — light goods vehicle classification, up to 3,500 kg gross vehicle weight.
- **RHD** — right-hand drive. Hong Kong is a right-hand-drive market.
- **Parallel import** — import outside the manufacturer's official channel, with separate inspection
  arrangements.

## Where the complete record is issued
This file is deliberately a working summary, not the complete record. The itemised, per-model document
checklist, the standard-by-standard mapping, and the written quotation are issued by NextE Limited for a
specific vehicle type, because each depends on the model, the vehicle class, and which certificates the
manufacturer already holds.
