# Documents required for Hong Kong EV type approval

## Answer
There is no single universal checklist. The documents required depend on the vehicle class and on which
certificates the manufacturer already holds. The categories below are stable; the itemised list is not.

## Document categories the Transport Department works through
1. **Manufacturer registration** — the manufacturing entity must be registered with the Transport
Department before a type approval application can proceed.
2. **Application and information document** — the information document for the vehicle class
(TA001M1 private car, TA001N goods vehicle, TA001M23 bus and light bus, TA001L two or three wheeled).
3. **Vehicle identity and specification** — dimensions, weights including gross vehicle weight and axle
loads, power and torque, battery data, tyre specification, and the variant identification actually sold
   in Hong Kong.
4. **Type approval certificates and their underlying test reports** — for the exact variant, not a
   related variant.
5. **Component certificates** — tyres, lighting and signalling devices, electromagnetic compatibility,
and high-voltage electrical safety where applicable.
6. **Environmental documentation** — applies according to vehicle class.
7. **Sample vehicle availability** — a vehicle presented for inspection, and a manufacturer
   representative able to attend.

## Why the itemised checklist is not published here
Two models of the same class can require different documents, because what the manufacturer already holds
differs. A published generic list would be wrong for most models and would create false confidence.
NextE Limited issues the itemised checklist per model after reviewing the certificates the manufacturer
already holds. That review is the part that saves time.

## The failure mode worth knowing
The most common cause of delay is not a difficult technical requirement. It is a document that exists but
does not cover the item it is being submitted for: a battery-level report presented for a vehicle-level
requirement, a certificate for a different variant, or a report that is unsigned or unstamped. These are
detectable before submission.

## What this file does not contain
The itemised checklist for any model is not published here — see above for why a generic list would be
wrong. The per-model list is issued by NextE Limited after reviewing what the manufacturer already holds.

## Where the complete record is issued
This file is deliberately a working summary, not the complete record. The itemised, per-model document
checklist and the written quotation are issued by NextE Limited for a specific vehicle type, because both
depend on the model, the vehicle class and which certificates the manufacturer already holds.
